Congratulations to Leighton Lambert for being selected as Florence student of the week! Leighton is the daughter of Dave and Autumn Lambert of Florence. She is a senior at FHS. Leighton is a 3rd year member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, and TORPEDOS. She participates in Cross Country and Softball. A large part of Leighton’s summer was spent playing softball all over the state for her travel team out of DePere WI - Impact Sports Academy. Leighton is an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and works at Annie’s Trading Post. In her free time, Leighton enjoys working out, crafting, baking, camping, and hiking with her family. Leighton takes a lot of pride in everything she does and never settles for “good enough”. She is
a strong leader, helpful, and dependable. Leighton is polite and respectful and is well-liked by her peers and school staff. Upon graduation, Leighton plans to attend UW-Stevens Point for Chiropractic or Physical Therapy.

Due to our Football Field home bleachers not being installed yet, there will be limited bleacher seating on the home side of the field. Feel free to bring chairs to sit alongside the field on the track or there will be bleacher seating available on the visitors side of the field. We apologize for this short inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation in this matter. We look forward to having our new bleachers installed the second week of September.
It was great to see all of the parents and students at Parent/Student University last evening. We are looking forward to another great year at Florence Middle/High School. And a special thank you to the Florence County Health Department for again bringing Mr. Mike McGowen to Florence to kick off the year.
Registration forms for all Karate students for the 2023-2024 school year must be turned into the Elementary or Middle/High School Office by Wednesday, September 6th. Forms can be picked up at the Elementary Open House, Elementary Office and Middle/High School Office. Classes will be held on Mondays. The first class will start Monday, September 11th. Class times will be determined after registration so please register early.

Middle School Girls' Basketball practice will start on Monday, August 21st, from 3:30-5:30 at the elementary gym. Middle school basketball is open to 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade girls. There will be practice Tuesday-Friday from 3:30-5:30 as well. Please make sure you have a physical or alternate year card on file. Florence Middle/High School Students and parents are invited to the Parent/Student University in the High School Auditorium at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23rd. During this event, Mike McGowan will present from 6:00 to 6:45 PM and school staff will go over new information for the school year.
Note: Please update information and complete the Chromebook policy online prior to this event. If that is not possible, you will have an opportunity to do so the night of. Students will not receive Chromebook unless online registration is completed
5:00-5:45 - Parents that need assistance with Online Registration. We will have
computers and staff available to assist them.
Students may pick up their informational folders and put materials in their lockers
There will be raffles for students and parents in attendance. Parents in attendance will receive 1 raffle ticket. Each student in attendance will get 1 ticket for the raffle. Because parent involvement is an important part of the University, students that attend with a parent/guardian will get 2 tickets for the raffle.
Attendees will be treated to ice cream following the presentation.
Looking for extra spending money?
The School District of Florence County is looking for one dedicated student - age 14 or older to work a minimum of 10 hours a week after school at the elementary school doing custodial work. Responsibilities: Perform routine activities of collecting trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and general cleaning. Pay is $12.07 an hour

The School District of Florence County has a limited number of used iPad 6th gen for sale. They are sold as is and have been factory reset. They do not come with a charging cord. They are available at the Florence County Library.
🏐🎉 Amazing week at #UWSP Volleyball Camp in Florence! Our 7th-12th graders rocked the court& left with newfound skills & friendships. 2 full days of play, hard work, &determination paid off! 🏆 Big shoutout to our talented girls for making this camp a huge success! #GoFloCats
Florence students spent a day at the site of the 3-day battle of Gettysburg. toured Mount Vernon, saw George Washington’s grave, the National Archives, and saw the Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, and The Bill of Rights. The trip was truly an amazing learning experience & the kids had a great time.

Florence students had a jam-packed day full of fun activities, & we learned a lot from our local DC expert Rafel. They observed the changing of the guard @ the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, Arlington Cemetery,the 9/11 Pentagon, Lincoln, Korean War & Iwo Jima Memorials, The White House , The Reflection Pool, & the Washington Monument. #GoFloCats
